JSES Berlin 2017

INTERN

Picture
Mafalda von Alvensleben (17) continues as a Year 2 intern for JSES Berlin 2017. She brings four years of JSES experience to her role, starting JSES Berlin 2014 where she worked on a tandem Global Health project with her partner who traveled to New Delhi. At JSES Santa Monica 2015, Mafalda presented a a solo project, a recyclable medical supplies-themed work that drew from her experience working with her pediatric oncologist, whose ground-breaking work at UCLA she has long-supported by group fundraising efforts with "Chords for Cure", where as a singer/songwriter/musician, she shared the night's line-up with Coldplay's Chris Martin, and her Crossroads classmates. She also put her artistic talents to use designing a popular line of sports wear for the event, which raised a lot for pediatric cancer. Mafalda will perform in March 2017 at the 3rd Annual Chords for Cure where she will share the line-up wth One Direction. As a Crossroads High School Junior in Santa Monica, Mafalda continues to immerse herself in her science, and music studies, and she is also a competitive swimmer, and has been a member of the Mammoth Mountain Ski Team since 2013. She looks forward to putting her German AP skills to work as a Year 2 intern for  JSES Berlin 2017 in August, and over the next several months she will work with JSES Founder, Luca Pistor, and JSES mentor, Sonja Jost, on the curriculum and speaker series.
